He does this on veterans day, too. He'd never be the type to enlist himself, and we don't have close relatives who have served.

My family used to spend this weekend trotting around to the graveyards and placing flowers on the graves of all of our dead relatives. I don't live nearby the graveyards anymore, but I always remember toting my grandmothers from cemetery to cemetery with potted geraniums.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18820173.post-85954546849575858452008-05-26T12:31:00.000-07:002008-05-26T12:31:00.000-07:00On a day when most of us go to the beach or shoppi...On a day when most of us go to the beach or shopping, it was great to remember what today is all about, thanks to your post.Neilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05191467009055093356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18820173.post-28915763640168509962008-05-26T11:34:00.000-07:002008-05-26T11:34:00.000-07:00Absolutely agree with you about today. It leaves me feeling very sad for those who've lost their lives and for those who were left behind after losing their loved ones.

I've sent thank you card to the military in the past and I couldn't read the cards without crying. I hope they know how much they are appreciated.

There are just no words to describe my gratitude for them all.

It would make me happy to have all of our military home safe and sound.

Please hug your Dad extra tight for me today. (That applies to all presidents, not just the current one.)
My Dad too rarely speaks about the war, though his was Vietnam instead of WW2. Luckily (?) he was a medic and tried to *save* people.

So yeah, Thank you Memorial Day.super deshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04347176046518919059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18820173.post-31987896085283955572008-05-25T21:44:00.000-07:002008-05-25T21:44:00.000-07:00so proud of your dad & everyone who risked and los...so proud of your dad & everyone who risked and lost their lives in battle.marhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17974936666312566850noreply@blogger.com
