Next stop, Darwin Awards

Guess which of these bottles is harmless saline eye drops and which is peroxide carbamate ear drops?

This is a blog post, too

Now guess at 5:30 a.m. when you have your glasses off.

No, I did not put eye drops in my ear.

Which leaves the other alternative. Peroxide in my eye.

Yes, I did. Yes, it hurts more than you can imagine. And that is the last time those two bottles ever share the same shelf.

  1. Yee-ouch! That sounds painful.

You know those neon-bright colored adhesive dots that they sell at the office supply store? You could put different colored dots on each bottle to differentiate them - or just one dot on one bottle. Easy to see without glasses.

(ps: I've been lurking about here for awhile - thought I'd comment for a change)

  12. Oh my god. Reminds me of the time in college that I slathered Nair all over my face thinking it was cold cream and went to bed. I woke up about three hours later with burns all over my face.

  13. I don't feel so bad now. I did the exact same thing BUT to both of my eyes on two different occasions. And whats worse I had to bear the humiliation of going to the eye doctor to explain what happened and make sure my eyes were okay. Uhg. Eyes okay. Pride completely dead.

  15. I am so sorry! That's kind of funny (not haha, just odd) in that last week I too had the eye drops and the ear drops, both on the bedside table, and had a constant fear of switching them around. I'm sorry it happened to you! (I finally had to separate them before things went south.)

i left my 1 year old daughter home from day care with my husband one day when she had pink eye. She hated those rops in her eye, so he didn't think anything about it. When I got home and it was time for her nexy drops, I picked up the bottle he'd been using. ear drops. She did much better with the real ones after that experience though. Guess she realized it could be worse.

And we met at BlogHer. I don't know if I've commented before though. I'm lurky like that.

  18. oh, my, gosh. I almost did this EXACT same thing. Well, it was almost exact. In my case, it was the A/B otic drops, and DANGIT OTIC IS ALMOST OPTIC!

Bottle says Antipyrine, Benzocaine, Glycerin and Hydroxyquinoline Sulfate.

I think I'd rather have peroxide.
