When people find out I don't have kids, sometimes they try to comfort me.
"Oh, that's ok," they will say.
OK? Dude, it's the reason I took birth control pills for 30 years. Of course it is okay.
Today I got the funniest comment ever, though.
"There's really no ROI on having kids," the man said to me.

I get that kind of thing all the time. Sometimes I just want to fake bursting into tears to give them a show.
Hahaha. Love it.
Is that a pink dot on your dog's butt?
Having fewer children is a sign of education. You are just highly educated!
I love that. I may have to borrow it.
I've had people say, "It's not too late."
Yeah, like the opportunity to have kids just slipped my mind...for almost 30 years.
What's the latest estimate they gave on the cost of raising a kid? Something to the tune of around $225,000?
Yeah.
I'm making that investment. Sometimes I would like my quarter mil back. People who choose not to breed are WISE. I don't get the pressure some folks seem inclined to put on non-breeders. Sure, I love my kids, I love being a mom. But that's *my* gig. Its not for everyone. I respect people who know what they want a hell of a lot more than I respect people who went along with the crowd, had kids, became shitty parents and whine to their friends how they can't do the things they want because they had children. I want to shake them and scream "THAT'S WHAT BIRTH CONTROL IS FOR, YOU IDIOT!"
I get it too. What's really fun is when they ask me if I wish Greg and I had had children before he died so " I would have something to remember him by."
I laugh at them and then go spend my money on toys for me and I feel much better. : )
right. i'm clueless. what's "roi?"
i've been sure since i was 15 or so that i DID NOT want children. i've been very successful in fulfilling that. but it used to make me crazy when someone older would get all condescending and tell me that i'd change my mind when i was older. grrr.
Meno - yes! I'm saving the world from Dog Butt, one modesty dot at a time.
Ericka - "return on investment." I assume everyone knows because I hear it at work, oh, about 1000 times a day.
Yeah, that investment takes at least 18 years to mature-- and even then it's chancy.
Probably better off putting your funds elsewhere...
Funny!
