Breastfeeding

My feminist knickers are in a twist because of Twisty's post about breastfeeding.

It wasn't her post as much as the link to an article by a person she refers to as a Moron godbag:
Obviously, breast-feeding is not the same as carrying on an extramarital affair. But when a mother gives her breasts to her son and takes them away from her husband, the effect on the marriage can feel the same.
Well, of course. Because women never truly own their bodies. This kind of logic reduces women to objects and men to morons who are helpless to see their wives as anything but sexual toys.

Insanity.

Were there times that I was exhausted from the childcare responsibilities and the monopoly on my breasts? Too tired, in fact, to be interested in having my body mauled by an adult male (Mr. Half) for a change? Yeah...sure.
But--honestly--not having a job and losing my identity outside of the home played a much bigger role in my "disinterest" in sex than the months of breastfeeding EVER did. Dear Rabbi, please try our lives on for size before you judge. I think you're probably a nice guy, but why don't you try changing your name, quitting your job and staying home with kids who don't talk. Lose sleep. Gain weight. Have a hormone fluctuation powerful enough to affect the tides...and then we'll talk about who comes first in a marriage. The end.

one important thing this guy is forgetting - what if the woman doesn't really like the husband anymore and doesn't care if she ever has sex with him again?
been there, done that, had an affair, had a baby, during which he saw my crotch, oh yea, and he saw me stick a nipple in his baby's mouth too.
i agree with the author, that it is important for children to see affection and passion between their parents - but if the genuine regard and respect isn't there to foster that action, NOT breastfeeding ain't gonna do a damn thing to help!
what i did find rather archaic was the notion that a woman's body should only be viewed by her husband as a vechicle for his pleasure. acknowledging any function outside him getting off should be avoided.
yea, and she doesn't shit either!

I'm assuming my husband will not want my breasts for the same reason my childrenn want them.

What an odd thing for a fundy-looking fellow to say. I thought that for those sorts that the wife was merely the way to sons and more sons.

Oh, the author is my good man Shmuley. Why am I not surprised? He is always writing crap like that. If only he would stay within his silly little isolated Orthodox community and stop bothering the rest of his with his insanity. I say treat him like a troll and ignore him.

Here's a kicker for you. My husband - who was very supportive of my decision to breastfeed and encouraged me in every way - was also of the mindset I should never do so in public. He got over it when baby started screaming in hunger in the middle of the restaurant.

Gah!

What rocks do these people crawl out from?

Wow. It's amazing to me that in this day and age breastfeeding is still an issue at all.

I plan to breastfeed and I know what I am up against in terms of what society at large thinks about the breast as a taboo unless it's got a pasty or a sexy bra covering it. I don't much care although I may have a different opinion after I'm subjected to it for awhile.

Did you read the next page, where he goes on about how husbands shouldn't watch their wives give birth because "That is just too erotic a part of a wife's anatomy for it to become a mere birth canal"???

Can't comment anymore. Speechless.

I loved the next page even more than the first. Really. I found it hilarious enough to warrant a separate post over at CUSS, although I forgot to hat tip Suebob. (Sorry about that.) I never would have found it without you.

Oh. My. God.

I have a post brewing about breastfeeding. Yes, another one. But I might have to re-work it to fit in ragging on this guy.

Leave it to a man to write THE MOST insulting thing I've heard in a long while about breastfeeding. Oh yeah, and your boobs are HIS before you give them to your child? Ther last time I checked, they were still on MY chest. I didn't GIVE them to anyone. Someone needs to tell this buttnugget that they were never for men to begin with.

But no, you'd have to believe in somethng intelligent, LIKE EVOLUTION, for any of that to sink in...

Where do you find this shit, Suebob?

AssholesRUs.com?

Suebob, I don't know if you realize, but I hooked up your review of "Idiotocracy" on my movie review site. Sorry, I'm a little late telling you about it.

Cheers, babe
