Mish Mash

I have a brutal headache so just a few notes before I collapse...

A bunch of new linkies are up at Linkateria. Don't skip the "How to prank a telemarketer" one.

*****

I can track the precise moment my PMS hits me by when onion rings start to sound like a reasonable idea.

*****

Today at lunch we were talking about the new Jonestown movie. My young co-worker Rachel had never heard of Jonestown. Too young. Ouch. She said "Oh! THAT's where 'don't drink the Kool-aid' comes from."

*****

Everyone at work is sick. Bless their germy little selves for being so dedicated to continue working, so they hack and sneeze and infect the rest of us prisoners in the cube farm.

I stopped by my favorite aromatherapist, Bambi's office (does that sound SOOOO California to you, too?) to pick up some of her famous antibiotic germ-b-gone spray. Her place smells so insanely wonderful and is full of all kinds of weird victorian furnishings.

I hope her miracle juice works. I believe, I believe.

*****

Why does my friend Gael NOT have a blog? It's crazy, I tell you.

*****

Crap. I am sadly quitting my favorite volunteer gig, WriteGirl. It is the most fabulous organization (and could use donations, in case you win the Lotto or something) but it is a 70 mile drive through LA traffic, so my part in it was limited. I think the Boys and Girls club down the street may be my next calling.

*****

Any movie suggestions? No horror, no fantasy. Everything out looks kinda sucky. But when Borat comes out, you KNOW I'll be there to see it again (I was a sneak previewer - I have never laughed so hard. Yes, it is offensive and silly. And perfect.)

Borat turned up for the UK premiere on a horse and cart with 30+ members of his family with him!!

I still think of him as the voice of the king lemur in madagascar

That statement about PMS and onion rings . . . really cracked me up - I can relate.

Oh, and I know I'm a little late, but I'm glad your boobs are fine!:)

Ooh! The Prestige was very good. Plus, who can complain about a little Christian Bale with Hugh Jackman on the side?

You saw Little Miss Sunshine, right? If not RUN to see it as soon as you possibly can.

Onion rings always sound like a good idea to me. Does that mean I'm constantly PMSin?

Fine, I'll say it; what's Jonestown?

(Please don't kill me...)

I always know my PMS is starting when I start craving Lay's potato chips.

Does Bambi sell that spray online? Winter is coming which means cold & flu season. I need some germ-b-gone!

I keep checking back to see what people suggest for movies, but what the hell? I haven't been to the movie theatre in ages! A short list of a couple of my favorite rentals is all I can do: Mifune, Tsotsi, and Clay Pigeons. Me likey.

My PMS signal is Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I say signal, but I really mean incessant, pulsing desire.

Suebob~ From the Netflix category:

Tosca's Kiss, docu about an old folks home in Milan for the operatic. Shawshank Redemption, Love Actually, Everything's Illuminated (hilarious - go Alex! and moving, first five minutes will make you think I'm an ass, but beyond that it's great), Pride and Prejudice the BBC version with Colin Firth, ooh! I know! The Lion in Winter!

Mmmm onion rings. I'd suggest the smallish movie Eulogy - made me laugh and was entirely entertaining.

Onion rings are THE best indicator of PMS that I'm aware of.

We wanted to go out to a movie but just couldn't find one we were dying to see. We had some good Thai food and are going to watch Daily Show and Colbert instead.

Did you see Marie Antoinette yet? I' going to see it this Sunday, and I've heard from others that it is excellent.

Can't wait to see Borat, either. I think the Boys & Girls Club will be a lovely place to volunteer. Sorry that the commute to WriteGirl is so awful. I know how much you enjoyed it.
