I own every single gelatin mold shape shown in that cookbook (and dozens more, too). However, they are merely for *decoration* - I do not make hideous meat-n-gelatin dishes with them.
I just snagged a 1965 cookbook from my mom's discard pile. I can't wait to scan some of the table setting pictures -- some of the nastiest looking dinner ideas I've ever seen!
Have you ever seen that site that has old Weight Watchers recipe cards posted? Now that is some nasty stuff.
I find old cookbooks and such really interesting. On a recent visit home, I found my Dad's baby book from 1942. You would not BELIEVE some of the advice in there.
God, I love it. I have a Jell-O cookbook from the 70s with a recipe for salmon mold and chicken salad mold. I've never amde them, but it is fun to think about. Thanks for sharing the cabbage mold.

Ew!
Oh, my god...how nasty does THAT look?
The Co-op in Davis used to post recipes from old old cookbooks, and they had stuff like this. It was not what I wanted to see while grocery shopping.

That doesn't look to good. But I love the old style directions!!

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. That's wrong as wrong can be.
That is so...wrong.

Oh. My. God.
It's amazing people survived that time period.
