An actual scale drawing of the sleeping arrangements in this house, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that some of us sleep like civilized, polite people, and others act like wild, bed-hogging beasts.

Imagine if you will another person sleeping roughly where the other pillow is, and me as the stick figure in the pic but squished between the other person and the (65-lb) bed-hogging beast who is--and I kid you not--sharing my pillow as I spoon *her*. By all accounts, she is in the position of the stick figure in the picture, and I am in a sweetie/beastie sandwich every night, which works for me, because I like to be warm. Squeezing my hips between these two though when I want to roll on my back in the morning is like slipping an elephant into a vice, and I choose that metaphor advisedly.
I wake up in the morning laughing because two grown people are sleeping in the space of one grown person while our (admittedly gorgeous and lovable) beastie sleeps in all the space she wants, legs outstretched, perfectly comfy. And I haven't even mentioned the little(r) dog, who is content to sleep on the bottom of the bed between our feet/legs.
Scooch the dog up a little and put one cat above her and one below then scooch the person just a little closer to falling off the bed and it's an accurate representation of my house, er, bed. I can actually sleep a whole night, slip out of bed and the covers will smooth up exactly to where they were when I got in. The dog? Not so much.
My 86-pound dog spoons with me, and rests his head on the pillows. Then there are various cats distributed in and around the two of us. I'm never cold at night.
See, this is why so far the dog hasn't been allowed upstairs.
I say so far because it's coming. And on that night I'm sure I will wake up with the 103 lb dog snuggled lovingly with my husband, while the 35 lb cat hisses and digs his claws into my head.
Oh my - same thing here, but usually the dog is somewhere up by the pillow, and spooning me. Every 4th or 5th night, I re-acquaint him with his dog bed...just so I can say I'm still the boss.
And that's why the dogs have been banned from the bed. A 50 lb and 115 lb dog in between or ON TOP OF ME(in the case of the 115 lb dog) and the other person in bed was not going to happen anymore. All of you are much more tolerant than i am. Heh.
I have a 20 lb. cat that insists on sleeping right on my chest. It's not comfortable. Sometimes, I end up with all three on the bed. One on my chest, one between my legs, and one snuggled up against my butt.
We have two cats. Our youngest likes to hang out on out ankles. The oldest, though, will wedge himself between the two of us and over the course of the night stretch himself out while pushing the two of us farther and farther apart. I have, on more than one occassion, rolled-over only to find myself face to face with him, his body tucked neatly under the covers and his head comfortably reclining on the pillow. I remember once he woke up and noticed me looking at him. He reached over with his paw and stroked my cheek and then fell promptly back to sleep. We love that guy.

that's how my bed is, except there's another person, and the dog is a cat. He sleeps on my pillow instead of my feet.

Imagine this same picture with 4 cats......that is our house.

LOL at the above!
My kids sleep like that. All over, twisted, jabbing in my ribs.
Sigh.... It's worth all that extra tail waggin, tho!
That isn't normal? Oh NO!
Yup, pretty much the same story at our house.
Aw but the good news is that you're hair is perfect at night!
And I bet she snores too...
Funnyhow I posted about this the other day. My dog, same thing as your's. Only mine is smaller. How do they do it?
This is the best thing I have seen all week. I want to print it out and hang it over my desk. Thanks for the laugh.
