I have Seasonal Affective Disorder, so winter is a bit hellish for me.
But now the days are finally long enough. It happened Tuesday with the suddenness of a popcorn hull coming loose from under your gum *POP* and all was right with the world.
Since then, I have organized my CD collection, vacuumed the cracks and crevices, begged and gotten some great freelance work, called a bunch of old friends, started planning a mini-vacay to Washington DC, and started working out in earnest.
It's amazing what a little sunlight can do.

You would hate winter in MI, that's all I have to say. I don't have SAD, but boy do I love this sunshine after months of bleary snow.
I don't have SAD per se, but as soon as it starts being light out in the mornings, I feel like I've awakened from a long slumber. I think that means I'm just not a morning person.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been more productive in the last week or so since it started to get sunny than I'd been in the last six months.
I kind of like the first few months of winter when it starts getting dark early and everything is feeling cozy. It's the slog through Feb. and March that kills me - nothing is cozy and spring is just around the corner, taunting me.
When you going to DC?
Do you do lightbox therapy? If not, is that something that you think could help? I've heard other people with SAD swear by it.
My mom has SAD and regular-old depression, and living in Portland sometimes drives her right batty. My MIL refers to it as "that rainy problem." Like global warming is "that weather thingy.'
Aren't you glad we didn't name you Sue Ann? then you would have been SAD all the time. lol

My husband says I had SAD when we lived in the Northwest, but I don't think so. although I can get grumpy.
There's something about the change to daylight savings time that helps though - you get home from work and it's still light outside - you can enjoy your life.
The sun and long days are great but this recent heatwave can suck it.
